Charlize Theron did not have an easy life growing up. She was born and raised on a small farm in South Africa, where she lived with her parents until she was 15. After Theron turned 15, her father, a notorious drunk, threatened to kill his wife and daughter in a drunken rampage. Her mother killed him in self-defense. After the incident, Charlize wanted to become a ballet dancer, but the intense training caused numerous problems for her body. She later moved to acting and has not looked back.
